Kali
Strentgh - The evolution
Kali is one of the ten Mahavidyas, a list which combines Sakta and Buddhist goddesses. She is also seen as a divine protector and the one who bestows liberation. Kali is often portrayed standing or dancing on her consort, the Hindu god Shiva, who lies calm and prostrate beneath her. She is the feminine form of "time" or "the fullness of time" as "changing aspect of nature that bring things to life or death.
Ishita Sharma introduced Kali to BUYW via her visual art. From her perspective: "mostly attracted to her as she embodies the duality and the power inherent in the universe, and symbolizes the strength in every woman, freeing people from attachment to their bodies and their flesh and leading them to the truth...the destruction of ego to cross into the universal. the theme for me here is shakti - strength. the painting seeks to convey that emergence of inner strength that has the potential to manifest this incredible, all consuming form when provoked..."
